Sam Killermann Recommends Applying the Platinum Rule at HS Assembly

In recognition of Dalton's Ally Week, high school students heard a presentation by Sam Killermann. Sam is a social justice activist and is the guy behind the show and blog "It's Pronounced Metrosexual" which is about snap judgements, identity, and fighting oppression. His TEDx Talk and recently published book A Guide to Gender address the complexities of gender and its social impact. In addition, he is the founder of the non-profit "Gamers Against Bigotry" and is the co-creator of "The Safe Zone Project."
Sam's presentation mixed humor, poignancy and life experience to weave a message suggesting ways everyone can be effective allies. He expanded on the well known "Golden Rule" to challenge students to live by "The Platinum Rule" which asks people to treat others based on how others want to be treated. Sam took questions from the audience at the end of his presentation.
