Faculty and staff spent a recent afternoon "crafting" as a fundraiser for the Notre-Dame du Perpétuel Secours School in Haiti. "Over the last several years, my family, friends, and many in the Dalton community have helped support this K-6 girls school which provides much-needed meals and strong academics," says Dalton Language teacher Michele Viard-Andre. "Education is critical for these girls who live in one of the poorest and most dangerous neighborhoods of the city." The horrific earthquake in 2010 caused devastating damage to the school, and 17 nuns died. The school reopened and Michele now heads the Haitian American Community orgaization (HACO) to support the school. The School is in financial distress with an urgent short-term need of funds to keep it open and operating. The goal is to raise $20,000, which will enable the School open for another academic year.
