Dalton Hosts Global Educators for the ITC – International Teacher Certificate
Dalton hosted a group of global educators from around the world for a three-day institute to begin the International Teacher Certificate (ITC). Teachers from Iceland, Brussels, Singapore, Morocco, Dubai and New York spent three days exploring a variety of topics of importance in strengthening international mindedness in schools.
Topics included:
Intercultural Literacy and Intelligence
Transition and Mobility
Third Culture Kids and Global Identities
Language Issues: Second Language Learners, Bilingualism and the Importance of Mother Tongue Literacy Development
The ITC is a joint effort of the European Council of International Schools (ECIS) and Cambridge University. After three days of face-to-face training, the program continues for 12-14 months in a blended learning environment with online forums and in-school research projects meant to connect teachers to best practices in teaching in a global context.
First Program Spanish teacher Kavita Rekhi was one of the participants and Dr. Lori Langer de Ramirez, Director of the World and Classical Language Department and Global Language Initiatives was one of the course leaders.
