Dalton Tiger Report - This Week In Athletics (10-28)

Read about some of the great performances and highlights from the past week. This week features Boys Soccer, Girls Soccer, Volleyball, and Cross Country.
Boys Soccer
The Dalton Boys Soccer team concluded a great regular season with a 2-1 victory over Horace Mann on Friday, October 26. Dylan Taub and Diego Urmeneta both scored in the win. The victory gave the Tigers an 8-4-3 record and a third-place finish in the Ivy League. Dalton also qualified for the NYSAIS tournament with a #4 seed, their highest seed in recent history, and will take on the 5th seeded Park School of Buffalo on Wednesday, October 31 at 2:30 PM at Randall's Island #82.

Girls Soccer
A 1-0 victory over Horace Mann on Friday, October 26 gave Dalton their 6th win of the season. Freshman midfielder Solange Sylvain scored the games' lone goal in a defensive battle and a late save by keeper Leyla Kamshad sealed the victory for the Tigers. Dalton will now prepare for the NYSAIS tournament as a #5 seeded with a rematch at #4 seed Hackley on Wednesday, October 31 at 2:30 PM. The two teams split their regular season matchup with each team prevailing 1-0 in the two games.

Volleyball
The Volleyball team finished their season with three consecutive victories and five wins in their last six games. On Wednesday, October 24 Dalton celebrated Senior Day with a 3-1 victory of Avenues. Another 3-1 victory over Horace Mann on Friday, October 26th gave Dalton their 7th win of the season. Dalton qualified for the NYSAIS tournament as the 11th seed and will take on 6th seeded Trevor Day on Tuesday, October 30 at 5:00 PM at Trevor Day School. Trevor Day defeated Dalton twice in their two matchups earlier this season.

Cross Country
The Dalton Cross Country team had a wonderful Ivy League championship meet. Of the 27 runners who competed, 21 ran personal best times. The Boys' team was led by Ari Eaton, who finished in 17th place overall and Nate Zelter, who came in 22nd. The Girls' team were topped by Toni DaCosta who finished 11th, earning all ivy honors for the third straight year. Grace Chaikin was second for the Girls' team breaking the 18-minute mark for the first time in her career and becoming one of only a handful of Dalton female runners to reach that mark.
