Dalton Mathematicians Score Big In Local and National Contests
Dalton’s Math Team posted fantastic results this fall in the New York City Interschool Math League competition as did the Middle School students in grades 6-8, who took the American Mathematics Competition, according to Mathematics Chair Lisa Borenstein.
The junior team came in first and three individual juniors tied for second. Dalton’s senior team came in at a respectable third place with two individual students earning top ten spots. The freshman and sophomore A Team earned first place and the B Team took third place, with eight Dalton students scoring in the top 10 individually.
In the AMC national competition, Dalton’s middle school math students earned a whopping 17 National High School Awards (a Dalton record.)
Dalton offers plenty of math enrichment; the Math Teams welcome members to join who are interested in math, can come twice a week, and who love to problem-solve. The High School Math Team has 45 students. There are 14 students on each of the Grade 7 and Grade 8 teams. There are also 10 students in the After School Math Club for Grades 5 and 6.
