Director of Music and Choral teacher Chris Landriau, Orchestra Director Jordan Brown and Percussion teacher Bob Bush accompanied 12 Dalton music students on a fieldtrip and backstage tour of City Opera. They met City Opera General Director Michael Capasso and attended a production of Candide. Mr. Landriau hopes that the trip will forge a new and lasting relationship with City Opera to form and inspire a mutually beneficial program between the school and the Opera. Judging from Mr. Capasso’s warm reception, his interest in future possibilities for cooperation with Dalton, and the students’ enjoyment of the impressive performance, we are hopeful that this beneficial musical relationship will come to fruition.
Incidentally, Mr. Bush is no stranger to the backstage musical scene at City Opera. As a professional percussionist, he served for many years as a regular extra with the City Opera Orchestra and as Associate Principal Percussionist with the New York City Ballet Orchestra. Coincidentally, Mr. Bush also played percussion for the last leg of the 1971 touring production of Candide at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC.
