Kindergarten Spanish Classes Welcome Visitors

First Program Kindergarten Spanish classes welcomed a few surprise visitors. Picchu el pájaro (the bird) y Miski la llama (the llama)! Dr. Carmen Campos, a Spanish teacher at Big Dalton, wowed the students by sharing some authentic artifacts from Peru. They had the opportunity to smell real llama’s wool (many students decided that it wasn't very pleasant and reacted in Spanish with ¡fuchi!). An Andean pan flute, la zampoña, was passed around, so the students had a chance to try out the Peruvian instrument.
The highlight of the entire visit was the opportunity for Picchu and Miski to interact completely in Spanish with the Kindergartners. The children answered questions and also had some time to ask the puppets some questions like ¿Cuántos años tienes? (How old are you?) and ¿Cuándo es tu cumpleaños? (When is your birthday?). It was a real treat!
