HS Students Discover How Kindergarten Students Learn and Practice Spanish

Spanish 1 High School students had the opportunity to visit Ms. Coulehan's Kindergarten Spanish class at the First Program. The purpose of the visit was to observe how Kindergarten students learn and practice Spanish. During the visit, students were able to interact with each other in Spanish, introduce themselves and play interactive games like Connect 4, and to practice some vocabulary associated with Valentine's Day.
The First Program students enjoyed meeting and playing with the High School students while showing off their Spanish skills! The Spanish 1HS students reflected on how readily these elementary novice level students learn Spanish in their classes. They commented: “Kindergarten students are forming full sentences!” “(Students) learn through photos and hand motions.” “Students don't give up and ask for help when they need it.” It was an enlightening experience for all!
