World and Classical Language Department Sponsors Annual Global Language and Culture Conference
In conjunction with NYSAIS, Dalton sponsored the Global Language and Culture Conference This year's theme was “Equity and Social Justice in the Language Classroom.”
Eight Dalton language teachers joined over seventy language educators, chairs and heads who came from over 35 independent schools in New York and from other states (New Jersey, Connecticut, Illinois, South Carolina, Washington State and as far away as Hawaii!)
Teachers participated in workshops, cultural lessons, and interactive lectures on topics ranging from social justice in the language classroom to best practices in teaching languages to students of all ages. The keynote speaker, Mr. Al Martino, former New York State Education Department Supervisor LOTE (Languages Other Than English) spoke about the importance of establishing a safe and inclusive language classroom for all learners.
