Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month

The First Program Library is proud to celebrate Asian-American & Pacific Islander Heritage Month! Librarian Maria Paz Alegre hails from the Philippines and was excited to bring her history to her students. Children in all grades were delighted with the Asia "Story Map." A map of Asia filled with book covers from books in the library that take place in those Asian countries, or are written by authors from specific places in Asia. It was so much fun to point at a country and get the book from the map! Even Presidents Piggie & Gerald got in on the fun and greeted everyone with "I Love the Library" in several Asian lanugages including Mandarin, Cantonese, Hindi, Urdu, Pashtun, Korean, Tagalog, Thai, Laotian, Malaysian, Vietnamese and Korean.
