First Grade Walk-a-Thon

All first graders participated in the annual First Grade Walk-a-Thon. This event began on a beautiful sunny day when the entire first grade walked around the block together. Over the next few weeks, each House will walk around the block a total of ten times. Some of the money that the children raise through the walk-a-thon will help support the New York Common Pantry. This is an organization that provides meals for people in need and is dedicated to reducing hungry throughout the city. The rest of the funds collected will be divided evenly amongst the five first grade houses. Each House will donate the funds to one or more charities researched and chosen by the students.
This process enables the children to be directly involved in thinking about global concerns and how best to address them. With pledges from parents, friends, siblings, aunts, uncles, grandparents and neighbors, the children will raise enough money to help make a difference. Thank you for supporting the first-grade students in this endeavor!
