The Dalton Varsity Squash team made school history this season, winning its first five consecutive games against competitors such as Horace Mann, Hackley and Riverdale.
The statistics display an overall strength in the team. The team has won 40% of its matches by a score of 7-0. This strong showing has earned Dalton first place among New York Independent Schools, a group consisting of Dalton, Hackley, Riverdale, Fieldston, Browning, Horace Mann, Poly Prep, Packer, and Masters.
So far this season, Dalton’s biggest win came when the Tigers defeated Hackley 5-2, the first time Dalton defeated Hackley in varsity squash school history. The head coach of the team, Dave Bradford, said after the match, “We are off to a very good start this year and we are looking forward to continuing to improve play, contending for a NYL championship.”
The team concluded its first half of the season with a decisive win over Riverdale, 7-0. The team will face its toughest week of the season upon returning from Winter Break, when Dalton will face formidable opponents Hackley and Poly Prep. If Dalton continues its undefeated streak, the team will clinch a spot in Division 1 of the High School Squash Championships.
