After establishing a relationship with the Elma School in Cambodia, Middle School Teacher Ivy Leibowitz and her students were inspired to engage in community service activities to support various projects at the school. Like those before them, this year’s Leibowitz House students have started a Coins for Cambodia Drive.
These projects included raising the money needed to build a playground, a walkway (to enable the children to use the restrooms which are in a separate location and were often inaccessible during the monsoon season) and a cover for the walkway that was needed to protect them from the hot sun, a laptop and other school supplies.
Working together, Leibowitz House, Almog House, and The Asian Cultures Club brought fun and games together in the Cafeteria. Middle schoolers played board games to raise funds for a copier for the Elma School in Cambodia. For the fifth year in a row, the Grade 6 students led this community service effort. Special thanks go out to Ms. Feldman, Mr. Quain and all of the many parents who supported this effort. Look for the jug in the lobby if you would like to help us reach our goal!
