Every year, Dalton History students take advantage of NYC's amazing historical resource, Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History, an archive of primary resource documents dating back to the revolutionary war. Read on to see what one student had to say about the experience.
"The trip to the Gilder Lehrman Collection at the New York Historical Society was an incredible opportunity. Seeing the handwritten texts made me feel more connected to the people who wrote them.Handling the documents made me more aware and appreciative of the history behind each text. After leaving the museum, I felt like I had a greater understanding of the topics and texts that we are studying in the classroom. I was also particularly impressed by the care and effort that the staff put into preserving each item, regardless of its value. The staff members were extremely friendly and treated us with so much respect. I truly appreciate the opportunity to visit the archives."
