Origami Squad Contributes to Les Colombes Art Installation
The Origami Squad had the opportunity to fold paper doves and contributed to the Art Installation "Les Colombes" by Michael Pendry, whose message of peace and freedom has been seen all over the world.
This year, Pendry collaborated with The Church of Heavenly Rest and the origami doves carry an additional significance of "release" to remind our community of the need for criminal justice reform and to offer better education to prison inmates so when they are released from bondage, they could re-enter the society as contributing members.
On Monday, May 6, Origami Squad advisors, Roxanne Feldman and Lillian Redl, and MS Librarian Joe Quain, FP Librarian Christine Nassar, accompanied ten students who, with additional Dalton members, folded more than 80 doves for the breathtakingly beautiful installation.
The installation is open to the public - on view until August 18, 2019, at 1085 5th Avenue, between 89th and 90th street.
A very special thanks to Dalton alum Aidan Donnelley Rowley '96 and parent of Lachlan '25, Winslow '27, and Bay '29.
