Grade 8 Students Provide Tips, Recipes to Curb Food Waste

Last week, five Grade 8 students worked with Dalton's building services team on providing First Program with a food scraps bin as part of their Climate Change Impact Project. They targeted curbing food waste and ask for you to help.
They request that you talk to your family about the importance of composting, and they have put together a list of other ways to help stop food waste. This short and easy list of things you can do could make a big difference:

  • Make a meal plan for one week and stick to it when shopping so as to reduce potential waste.
  • Shop at sustainable grocery stores, such as Whole Foods, to decrease the harm to the environment when buying food. These sustainable are also working to decrease food waste throughout production.
  • Save leftovers from restaurants and your meals.
  • Make smaller portions for the little kids who won’t eat as much.
  • And try these delicious recipes for your leftover food!
