Mandarin Students Put Language Skills to the Test in Flushing
Students from Ms. Burgoyne’s and Ms. Wu’s Mandarin classes Mandarin 4, Lands and People and Chinese History Through Stories went to Flushing, Queens on Friday, December 13 to practice speaking Mandarin in real life!
Students had the opportunity to learn how to play a Guzheng, a traditional Chinese harp, visit the local Flushing library, explore authentic food options at a Dim Sum restaurant, and complete their own Chinese supermarket scavenger hunt. During these activities, the students using their Mandarin language skills. Back at school, they completed in-class presentations on their favorite aspects of the trip and hope to return to Flushing’s Chinatown soon!
