Faculty and Staff Practice Mindfulness on Professional Development Day
While students enjoyed the day off, Dalton’s faculty and staff gathered on February 18 at 89th Street for an update on the School’s partnership with the Child Mind Institute (CMI) and to learn about stress reduction and mindfulness techniques.
Faculty and staff gathered in the Martin Theater for a morning presentation with CMI who shared research from focus groups conducted with different Dalton constituencies about Dalton’s school culture. Afterward, faculty and staff divided into small groups to work on cognitive behavioral therapy techniques that teachers can apply in their classrooms as well as in their personal lives.
After lunch, faculty had the opportunity to focus on committee work, participate in grade and division level meetings, and also explore the Dalton Wellness Fair on the 14th floor; attendees could choose to learn more about nutrition, exercise, and physical wellness, mental health, and holistic products.
