Dalton Helps Local Hospital Using 3D Printing

After the members of the Department of Radiology at Montefiore Medical Center were restaffed to help treat COVID-19 patients, they found themselves quickly running out of personal protective equipment and unable to purchase more.
In particular, they needed one specialized component of face shields that could be sterilized and reused. Working with the 3D printing company Ultimaker, the Engineering department stepped up to help and began producing the part. The effort was taken to the next level by recent alum Ryan Raymundo (class of 2019) who invented a method to produce the parts even faster. To date, Dalton has made and donated dozens of the components and has repurposed face shields that they used for woodworking.

If you have a 3D printer at home and would like to contribute, please email Sloan Warren at swarren@dalton.org.
