First graders from House 41 went to the Guggenheim Museum in early March when they viewed Canal, a painting by Dalton Aluma Helen Frankenthaler ’45, which is included in the exhibit The Fullness of Color: 1960s Painting.
After a tour, students had the chance to practice Frankenthaler’s soak stain technique in the Museum’s Art Lab. The trip was part of House 41’s artist study on Frankenthaler that teachers Alison Goodman and Athena Wyman Battalen organized. For the students, this trip was a masterpiece!
