First Program Library Hosts Story Hour with Drag Queen Rev. Yolanda
The First Program Library hosted its first Drag Queen Story Hour this past Wednesday with Reverend Yolanda! Drag Queen Story Hour is a way to foster creativity and inclusivity as participants are encouraged to express themselves in whatever ways they are comfortable.
Students and their families were introduced to Reverend Yolanda, a singer/songwriter, performance artist, and Interfaith Minister. We were treated to four books, I am Jazz; If You’re a Monster and YouKnow It; Red and Love the World as well as songs like “Puff the Magic Dragon” and “This Little Light of Mine.” Rev. Yolanda spread a message of love and acceptance and encouraged students to giggle, roar, snort, dance, wiggle, let their lights shine and just be themselves!
