More than 900 students participated in activities with their Dalton classmates both on campus and outdoors from September 8 through October 2.
It’s been wonderful to see the students at these gatherings—from field days and writing workshops to STEAM challenges in the Makerspace—and we look forward to continuing to expand our in-person programming. Each grade had a chance to gather and see one another over the last few weeks:
279 First Program students weekly in PlayLab (K-3)
4th (69 students) and 5th grade (87 students) Field Days on Asphalt Green
6th grade (76 students) House Meet-up on Asphalt Green
7th and 8th grade Enrichment Classes, including photography in Central Park, workshops on Productive Political Discourse, STEAM challenges in the Makerspace, and film screenings in the 14th floor greenhouse (108 students)
9th grade retreat (113 students) at Asphalt Green
10th grade trivia night (48 students) on the First Program Roof
11th grade T-shirt making party (42 students) at 89th Street
12th grade chalk party (78 students) at 89th Street
Morning Athletics for HS students and running club in Central Park in the afternoon
We’ll expand MS programming in October and look forward to inviting 4th grade students to weekly PlayLab sessions on Fridays with a focus on socialization, movement, and play (starting 10/16). On Thursday mornings, 7th and 8th grade students are invited to Asphalt Green for sports conditioning (starting 10/8). We’ll hold a 7th grade Outdoor Social Event at Asphalt Green on 10/16 and an 8th grade Outdoor Social Event at Asphalt Green on 10/23. More is in the works, including 5th and 6th grade Theater Workshops and 7th and 8th grade Makerspace studio classes.
For High School students, opportunities to zoom into digitalDalton from campus and access to the Makerspace for Robotics and studio spaces begins 10/14. For camaraderie and exercise, Dalton Kickball League starts in Central Park with space reserved on 10/21 and 10/28. Athletics continues with expanded offerings (e.g., soccer, football, fitness training, running group, tennis, volleyball, and yoga) in both the morning and afternoon at both Asphalt Green and Central Park.
We’ll continue to expand our in-person opportunities and will share updates and photos!
