From PlayLab and House gatherings to theater and zoology workshops, Dalton students came together this week for a broad range of exciting in-person activities.
Over the week, 115 First Program students were on campus for supervision at 91st Street and 50 Middle School students were at 89th Street. Thirty-three high schoolers opted to use our socially distanced co-working spaces at 89th Street to login to their digitalDalton classes, and sign-ups for the High School Makerspace and robotics sessions rose significantly with 40 students coming in to work with our engineering and fabrication tools.
We also added some exciting new after school enrichment programs for Middle School students: a daily theater workshop for 5th and 6th graders and weekly workshops in Entrepreneurship and Herpetology & Animal Husbandry for 7th and 8th graders.
PlayLab continues to go strong at the Dalton Athletics Center with over 300 students from Kindergarten to 4th grade participating in coach-led games, sports, and fun activities during the week. Meanwhile, 130 Middle and High School athletes joined our weekly training and fitness sessions at Asphalt Green, Central Park, and the 87th Street Athletics Center. The fall athletics season will continue until Thanksgiving break. Closing out the week on Friday, 8th Graders gathered by House at Asphalt Green to socialize and play some outdoor games to close out a busy week.
Next week, we’re excited to continue Playlab, training sessions, workshops and also host some eerie-sistible events to celebrate the Halloween spirit. In-person activities include a 6th Grade Halloween Dodgeball Night on Wednesday as well as a 4th Grade Halloween-themed Playlab and 5th Grade Halloween Asphalt Green event on Friday.
