First Program Celebrates MLK Day in Virtual House 91
To close out First Program’s J-Term, students came together for a virtual House 91 assembly to celebrate Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.
At the assembly, FP Librarians Christy Nassar and Jordy Samuels shared stories, photos, and videos about the life of Martin Luther King, Jr. and his legacy on America’s Civil Rights Movement.
Students learned about the contributions of other civil rights figures such as Mahalia Jackson, Bayard Rustin, Yuri Kochiyama, and Ruby Bridges. Our FP Librarians connected each influential civil rights leader to a character quality that the students had studied over the J-Term week: Collaboration, Persistence, Leadership, Fairness, and Courage.
