Digital Citizenship Brings 3rd Grade Students Together
Third Grade students came together on Friday, March 12 for an exciting moment—together they took their own Digital Dalton pledge!
This event marked a culmination of effort by students to decide how they will create and uphold a positive digital community that promotes responsible, respectful, and kind behaviors. Third graders reflected on how community expectations and norms define what’s appropriate and expected to create safe spaces in online communities. Students collaborated to define their norms for exploring in and interacting with digital spaces in five different areas: communication, responding, sharing, working, and playing. Then, students and house advisors voted and curated the list of norms to create the final draft.
Along the way, Third graders gained a deeper understanding of what positive digital discourse and interactions look like—along with the importance of shared expectations to create safe digital spaces for all. Our community of Third graders have made this commitment to uphold themselves and each other to their co-constructed Digital Dalton pledge.
Bravo, Class 2030!
