6th Grade Celebrates Ancient Greek History

As the culmination of months of Ancient Greek studies, 6th graders participated in Dalton’s traditional Greek Festival on May 25.
The Festival celebrates the students’ cross-curricular work with Ancient Greece as the focal point in Math, History, Music, Dance, PE, English, and Theater.

The Festival included three principal performance elements: handcrafted 'persona' poems based on an Ancient Greek character; dance compositions born of Ancient Greek stories, themes and text; and choral arrangements.

Altogether, the Festival was an exciting evening of theatrical entertainment, with every student performing on the (Zoom) stage. MS Greek Festival Director Rory Boyd enjoyed the experience noting, "As their director, it was a delight to see the students' performances grow over the trimester as they developed their performance skills and delivered nuanced and commanding interpretations of these legendary characters, making them their own. The Greek Festival is a true community event, and, after a long and difficult year, there was much joy in seeing the students come together to celebrate and honor each other's work with their families."
