Computer Science Class Takes to the Kitchen for Coding Project
Middle School students in Danah Screen and Jessica Valarezo's Computer Science classes traveled up to the 14th Floor kitchen at 89th Street for a fun and educational cross-curricular experience.
The classes enjoyed the combined project, which melded the worlds of computer science and culinary arts into a fun experiment.
Students in Computer Science 0 (CS0) are studying pseudocode to highlight the importance of instructions and sequence as they prepare for coding later in the course.
In this assignment, students enjoyed a hands-on experience in the kitchen as they followed culinary directions and measured ingredients to understand why detail, order, and the relationship between syntax and semantics are essential in both the computer and culinary worlds.
