Cross Country Excels in Ivy Championships

The Dalton Cross Country team had a great day at the Ivy League championship meet on a windy Friday afternoon.
The Tigers kicked the day off by winning the freshmen boys race bolstered by solid finishes from Lucas Choe (3rd), Justin Khan (5th), Gavin Aurelus (7th), Hayden Rosenthal (10th), and Daniel Wagman (11th). The Girls followed up with a 1-2-3-4 finish in their race, with Hannah Diker, Ani Sharma, Ines Rudenstine, and Miriam Dube taking those spots. Dalton also got some standout performances in the JV races, with Jasper Karlson and Audrey Liu both medaling.

The Varsity Girls came in second place, scoring their lowest ever with 47 points. Sophomore Naomi Gomel led the way with a second-place finish, the highest a Dalton girl has finished in the race since 2011. Classmate Zoë Lester was the next Dalton finisher, coming in fifth-place in a personal best time earning first-team All-Ivy honors. Juniors Sofia Gulati and Ciara Balanza were the next two Dalton athletes to finish, coming in ninth and 11th to earn second-team all-league honors. Sophomore Annika Jha placed 20th to round out the Tigers scoring five. Seniors Charlotte Sadelain and Charlotte Klein capped off their varsity 4K careers coming in with solid runs.

The Boys varsity team came in fourth place, led by senior Connor Rust, who finished ninth. Rust earned second-team All-Ivy honors. Junior Luke Rostan was the next Daltonian to finish, placing 17th. Freshman Lucas Jacobs was 31st, with senior Lucas Scott two spots behind him. The junior trio of Emmett Roth, Eli Diker, and Henry Spencer closed out the race for the Tigers.

The Tigers will complete their season at the NYSAIS championship meet on Sunday, November 7.
