First Graders Knit Cozy Beanies for Homes for the Homeless
First graders in House Levin broke out the yarn and needles this month and knitted cozy winter beanies for support organization Homes for the Homeless (HFH).
In addition to providing families experiencing homelessness with a place to sleep, HFH offers childcare, early education programming, after-school recreation, wrap-around social services, and employment training intended to ensure a holistic and community-oriented support system for families.
A representative from HFH spoke with the first graders on Wednesday, March 2, and detailed the organization's great programs for those in need. Students inquired about the programming and additional ways they could support the organization.
First graders proudly presented the organization with a box full of their hand-knitted hats. Great work by First Program teacher Jamie Levin and her industrious students!
