HS Seniors Visit Museum of Food & Drink for African American Culinary Experience
Seniors in HS History Teacher Kevin Slick's Senior elective "You Are What You Eat: A Critical Investigation Into Food Production, Consumption, and Justice", students recently visited the Museum of Food and Drink (MoFaD), currently housed in the Africa Center.
The class set out to view the current exhibition, "African/American: Making the Nation’s Table." The exhibition provided essential insight into the role African Americans play(ed) in crafting our nation's cultural and culinary identities and demonstrated first-hand the vitality of Black foodways.
The "Shoebox Lunch" provided an additional depth of experience as students sampled recipes from a top African American chef.
