For a Study of Movement, Physics Pairs with the Tango
Dr. David Lindo’s HS Physics A class found itself with an unlikely partner on Friday, June 3, in the 10th floor dance studio.
In collaboration with Performing Arts Coordinator & Dance Teacher Randi Sloan, David’s class blended its study of circular motion with learning to dance the tango.
The movement of the tango dance closely mirrors the motion and highly energetic vortices of ocean circulation. Just as Dance partners constantly communicate with their body movements; a steady dialogue transpires between swirling ocean currents and the coral reef. They also mimic the motion of drifting binary star systems, a topic students recently learnt in Physics A!
The students enjoyed partnering together and learning the tango steps at this energy-filled morning activity!
