José M. De Jesús Performs at First H91 of the Year
On Friday morning, First Program Director Gillian Todd welcomed kindergartners and a special guest, Head of School José M. De Jesús, to their very first House 91.
The assembly began with a welcome song led by FP Music Teacher Bogna McGarrigle. José then shared his excitement about being a new member of the First Program family. He showed pictures from his childhood and introduced the community to his family — son, Joaquin, daughter, Bela, and not-so-little puppy, Chulo.
José, who explained that music was a big part of his family both when he was young and now, surprised everyone by bringing out his guitar and singing "We're Going to Be Friends" by The White Stripes.
Following José's welcome, Gillian and FP Assistant Director and Dean of Student Life Kelvina Butcher took turns reading the pages of A House is a House for Meby Mary Ann Hoberman, a longstanding House 91 tradition.
The morning ended with the singing of "The Dalton Song." With the school year officially launched, we look forward to many more engaging House 91s to come.
