HS History Teacher Shira Kohn Participates in Roundtable Panel at Association for Jewish Studies Conference

Dalton HS History Teacher Shira Kohn participated in the Association for Jewish Studies' 54th annual conference on December 18 in Boston. Shira contributed to a roundtable discussion on "Scholars in High School Settings: Skills, Pedagogy, Research, and Networking."
With more than 1,200 attendees and over 190 sessions, the conference is the world's largest annual gathering of Jewish Studies scholars. The event features a major book exhibit of leading publishers, cultural programming, plenary, and awards and provides a unique opportunity to share ideas and explore the world of Jewish Studies scholarship.

Shira's panel helped graduate students and doctoral advisors understand what skills were most helpful in preparation for entering the competitive secondary education market and how a background in Jewish Studies might translate to different high school educational settings.

In addition to contributing to the discussion, Shira completed her four-year term on the Board of Directors as one of the only members working outside of higher education.
