3rd Graders Visit Rubin Museum of Art to Deepen Their Study of Buddhism
The 3rd Grade Scaringi House headed downtown to the Rubin Museum of Art on Thursday, February 2, to help deepen their study of Buddhism.
This trip coincided with the class's study of the Silk Road as they learned how goods and ideas traveled from Europe to China in the year 1500.
During their recent archeological dig, the 3rd graders uncovered statues of Buddha. In addition, they sought to learn more about the style/attributes of these objects and the art typically found in a Buddhist shrine.
The museum, founded by Dalton alumnus Donald Rubin '53 and his wife Shelley, highlights the ideas, cultures, and art of the Himalayan regions.
