Dalton Children's Action Project Hosts Valentine's Cooking Decorating Party
On Valentine's Day, amidst a shower of red, pink and white sprinkles, and tubs of icing, Dalton Children's Action Project (CAP) and volunteers decorated heart-shaped cookies with Homes for the Homeless children at the first annual Cookie Decorating Party in the cafeteria.
Founded by juniors Melissa Urfirer '09 and Jordana Imershein '09 two years ago, CAP is a student group devoted to action projects to help children in need in New York City. Previous projects included collecting thousands of clothing items to create "Clothing Boutiques" for foster children at Homes for Homeless Centers, assisting the Mt. Sinai Pediatric Cancer Center which built a children's library, along with raising money by sponsoring a CAP Walk-a-thon team.
The goal of CAP is to heighten awareness of the problem of homeless children in our City, and to help people realize that homelessness is a children's issue.
Congratulations to all involved for making Valentine's Day a happy one for Homes for the Homeless children. Proceeds from this event will go towards books and eduational supplies for homeless children.
