Kindergartners Learn The Dalton Song

Our Dalton mural of what the Dalton song means to us.
Charlotte’s mom, Lisa Freedman 1983, a Dalton graduate, visited Charlotte’s kindergarten class to talk about Dalton’s School Song.  Lisa said that she wanted to help the children in House 45 understand the meaning of the words to the Dalton song, because she did not understand all of them when she was a Dalton student.
During her visits, Lisa patiently explained the meaning of the lyrics. She showed the class a flashlight to illustrate a beacon, and a flag to illustrate a banner.  The class talked about beasts, great and small, and they learned about “going forth unafraid.” Lisa came to school for two additional days to help students draw pictures with paint, craypas, watercolors and crayons. Afterwards, students cut out the pictures and glued them onto a background to create a big, impressive mural. House 45 proudly exhibited its mural in House 91 while singing the Dalton song.
