For this series of Andy Warhol inspired self-portraits, students worked in pairs to photograph each other using various facial expressions. After enlarging their black and white photographs in the darkroom, they added many techniques such as collage, painting, drawing, pastel and sewing to their portraits. Through this project students explore issues of identity – some are self -portraits while others are an investigation of playing out at type, not an actual person but a fictional one, depersonalizing the image.
If you're visiting 89th Street please take some time to admire their work.
