Dalton Robotics Wins Grand Prize at the NYC FIRST LEGO League Championship
This year’s pilot robotics program at Dalton far exceeded expectations! Four Dalton middle school teams, each consisting of fewer than ten students, participated in the NYC Championships which were held at the Javits Center on Sunday, March 14th. The competition involved autonomous robots designed, built, and programmed by the students over the course of six months. FIRST is a worldwide organization, founded by Dean Kamen, dedicated to exposing students to engineering, problem solving, teamwork and a community built upon public and private partnerships. Of the 80 teams that qualified to compete in the four component competition, Dalton won 2nd place in the Research Project, 4th place in Teamwork, 1st place in the Robot Performance, and also took the 1st place overall Champions Award.
