Habitat Chapter Advocates for Improved Housing Conditions
On Friday, April 8th, fifteen Habitat members, Kathleen Mcnary, and Brad Melius traveled to Albany on the Chapter's first Advocacy trip.
The students and chaperones met with representatives of New York Senator Liz Kreuger and Assemblymen Richard Gottfried and Robert Rodriguez to discuss ways to eliminate substandard housing in New York. Not only was this trip a rare opportunity for students to meet with elected officials, but it also also provided a way for Dalton students who are too young to participate in the building trips to become more involved in the Chapter. Overall, the trip was a tremendous success. The government officials' staffers were impressed with Habitat's accomplishments and encouraged the Chapter to continue organizing its ambitious projects. Habitat appreciates the chaperones who volunteered to attend the trip, and eagerly anticipates future advocacy trips!
