First graders have now finished their annual walk-a-thon. Every year they walk ten laps around the 91st and 92nd Street blocks to raise money to help others.

We generally give about half of the money raised to Ujima to help students in Kenya go to school. The rest of the money gets divided amongst the five first grade houses, and the students get to decide who or what they’d like to help. The students are now in the process of collecting the money that relatives and friends pledged to donate.
