The MS remembered the contributions and ideals of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr at two assemblies last week. For the 7th and 8th Grades, the 7/8 Vocal Ensemble was joined by the HS Chorus (and some HS musician friends) to sing John Legend's "If You're Out There." After this, ABC News Network Correspondent and Dalton parent Deborah Roberts introduced Chef Marcus Samuelson who spoke to the students about the meaning, past and present, of Dr. King's legacy, his own journey to become a chef and his words of encouragement for our students. For the 4th, 5th and 6th Grades, the 5/6 Chorus was joined by a small group of 4th graders to sing, "Oh Freedom." MS Director Lorri Hamilton Durbin then introduced HS Director and MS Parent Dr. Lisa Waller who linked the morning assembly to her presentation of the children's movement during the Civil Rights Era.
