Dalton Math Students Converge for the American Math Competition
On Tuesday, February 5, High School and 8th grade math scholars crowded into the 89th Street cafeteria to compete in the American Math Competition, the largest math competition in the United States.
Proctored by Lisa Borenstein, High School Mathematics Teacher and Mathematics Department Chair, Grades 7-12, David Gomprecht, High School Mathematics Teacher and 12th Grade Dean and Michael Sturm, High School Mathematics Teacher, more than the expected number of students appeared to take the test, so the faculty had to scramble at the last minute to copy more booklets. Ms. Borenstein indicated that each year, on average, six Dalton High School students receive Achievement Awards and two Middle School students receive Young Achiever Awards.
