Gearing Up for Learning About Gears! - HS Robotics Students Visit FP Science
Gears are simple machines that change the strength, speed, and/or direction of a wheel. HS robotics students introduced third grade science students to Captain Hook one of the robots they built this year.
The high school students demonstrated how gears work, and explained why they used specific gears in order to make the robot function. The third graders watched as Captain Hook raised the flag and pulled itself up using different gear combinations. It is always a wonderful experience to observe our high school students sharing their knowledge with younger students, and an equally rewarding to observe FP students energized and inspired.
