Journey Through the Coral Kingdom with Michael Patrick O'Neill

Author, diver, photographer Michael Patrick O'Neill took the Dalton First Grade on a virtual journey of his amazing underwater adventureland. Author of several picture books with incredible photographs he has taken over 20 years, during thousands of dives, Mr. O'Neill brings sea life right up to the surface with his photos and accounts of close encounters with all sorts of sea animals.
Mr. O'Neill's teaches children the importance of environmental sustainability, so all of the amazing animals he described continue to thrive. He discussed sea scavengers, which he called "the clean-up crew," featuring shrimp and starfish. He also presented photos of adorable sea lions, gigantic sea turtles and all types of cool looking sharks, most of which he described as shy. The children asked excellent questions and were well acquainted with many of the sea creatures Mr. O'Neill presented. He was impressed. First Program Librarian Trudy Digiorgio invited the children to check out selections of Mr. O'Neill's seven books, including Let's Explore Sea Turtles and Let's Explore Sharks, from the library.
