Kindergarten Students Combined Reading and Halloween to Create Projects
The students in House 16 combined reading and Halloween, both extending our learning with this fun fall project, and creating PUMPKIN MAGIC! We discuss story elements when reading each day. We discuss characters, setting, and key events as we work on reading comprehension and retelling stories. With the help of moms, dads, teachers and other significant grown-ups, the students selected a character and decorated a pumpkin that resembled his/her favorite storybook character.
Each student then wrote their own script revealing the character of their storybook pumpkin. With the help of our beloved Ms. Nickles, we used Chatterpix, an app on the ipad, to record each student's character personification and to bring their characters to life! We loved seeing the big smiles on the kids’ faces as they created these pumpkin characters. We hope you enjoy looking and listening as much as we have.
