House 14 Learns About Matzoh

House 14 started their study of bread this week and the first kind of bread they are learning about is matzoh.  They went to a pretend matzoh bakery to try their hands at separating wheat from chaff, grinding the wheat, rolling out the dough, and putting holes in the dough.
It was hard work, but once the matzoh was cooked, they got to eat it. Then they went to a real matzoh bakery in Brooklyn to see grown ups make a very special matzoh for Passover called "shmurah" matzoh.  That means that the matzoh was closely watched from the wheat field all the way through to the baking.  This special matzoh must be done in under eighteen minutes to be sure that it doesn't rise.  Everyone was moving very quickly in the bakery, but they rolled really good circles that were very, very thin.  Our matzoh and their matzoh were both really delicious!
