Dalton Robotics Wins 2nd Place at World Championship

Dalton's robotics team, Atomic Theory joined a three-team alliance to take 2nd place in the world at the FIRST Tech Challenge World tournament in St. Louis, Mo. Despite facing competition that included multiple former world champions, their alliance beat all of the other teams in their division and moved on to the Championship finals. There, they lost 1-2 in a best of three series, including a heartbreaking narrow loss. Overall, they ended as a member of the second place alliance in the world.
This year, over 4500 teams from around the world took part in the FIRST Tech Challenge, where students design, build, and operate robots that compete against one another. After winning at the local, state, and Eastern Super-Regional levels, one of the Dalton Robotics teams (Atomic Theory) earned the right to participate in the World Championships against the top 128 teams in the world. Students from throughout the program joined together to help support the team, and 20 students travelled to St. Louis for the competition. After three days of qualification matches, the team had a 6-3 record and formed a playoff alliance with the teams High PHidelidty from Houston, Texas and T.B.D. from Aurora, Ohio.

This is the fifth year of the HS robotics program, and our highest ranked finish. We are particularly proud of the students' collaborative accomplishment, and look forward to next year's season.
