The FP Farmers' Market was considered to be a huge success by many who attended. In order to prepare for the market, the kindergarten children learned about eating healthy. They visited a variety of farms and markets and compared produce. Their market sold vegetables, a special granola mixture, and potted herb plants.
Advertising, pricing, displaying, and selling their products were all part of this learning experience. Exposure to money symbols and counting change (with adult help) was a necessity for the Market's sellout. The proceeds and any donations go to Backpack Buddies, a charity that supports hungry children in NYC by providing them with free food for the weekends.
