Candlelighting - Noon Dismissal

Candlelighting is Dalton's celebration of the Winter Solstice held on the last day of school before Winter Break. View the live stream starting at 9:00 AM. Due to space limitations, only parents of Candlelighters are invited to attend. Others may view this live stream.

Members of the Dalton community, including students, parents, faculty, staff, and alumni, are selected each year to light a candle during one of four assembly ceremonies. Dalton's combined chorus provides the music. Students from Grades 6-12 recite passages from "The Candlelighting Poem" written by Dalton Alum Nancy Cardozo '36.
