Dalton loses a close match against Horace Mann. Dalton girls surprise Horace Mann with their playing ability and competitive nature.
Dalton girls went into their match against Poly expecting the best players in the league , but what they found was an ability to compete on the same level and put fear into their opponents and their coach. The star match was #3 seed Courtney Salzberg playing her second singles match this season. Salzbergs match became a three hour marathon, lasting deep into the night. Salzberg, playing great aggressive tennis, ran herself around the court, attempting to retrieve every shot and make her opponent make errors with her consistent play. Jenny Lenz and Amy Zalaznik playing #2 doubles also played an incredibly strong match taking their opponents to three sets. Lenz and Zalaznik who had won all their previous matches, consistently attempted to change their style of play to suit their needs and to throw their opponents off; unfortunately Horace Mann's team were able to catch a few breaks and take the match. Lenz and Zalaznik played a tough match and look forward to their rematch later this month. Molly Klosk #1 and Becky Brown #2 had a more difficult match, playing against players who are top in the league. Both Klosk and Brown gave a great fight, but were unable to break into their matches. #1 doubles of Morgan Russo and Emily Freeman also had a difficult time against their opponents. Horace Mann's #1 doubles team was extremely strong and did not allow the Dalton girls to play their typical aggressive attacking game. Dalton should be proud of all their players and their great effort.
